 Berlin, May 2007 – How to transfer films, photos and music from the PC or Internet to a TV or stereo system, without a pile of unsightly cables. The new WLAN version of the Freecom Network MediaPlayer-350 converts any living room into a private cinema or concert hall in the blink of an eye. The Network MediaPlayer is operated by on-screen display (OSD) from the TV and makes selection of the required film, video or photo file child’s play.
The only major requirement for this cordless streaming of audio and video files is a connection to an existing wireless network. The Network MediaPlayer-350 receives the files via WLAN from any PC on the network or direct from the Internet, and transmits them to the TV or hi-fi system. External USB data media such as external hard disks or USB sticks can also be accessed via the integrated USB port (host). If Ethernet cables are not an issue, the Network Player can also be operated over the LAN connection (RJ45).
The high-performance Sigma Designs chip set supports the reproduction of many AV formats (e.g. video formats such as AVI, WMV, MP4, DAT etc., audio formats such as MP3 and OGG Vorbis, or JPEG image formats) and also enables the playing of HD files.
The Freecom Network MediaPlayer-350 is available both without a hard drive (drive-in kit) and with a hard drive with capacities of up to 500 GB. This makes it ideal for mobile use independent of a network, enabling the user to access his own multimedia library either when with friends, at work or when on the move, and can be used just as well for back-ups.
The Freecom Network MediaPlayer-350 WLAN is available in the shops immediately as a drive-in kit (RRP: € 209.-) and in the capacities 250 GB, 400 GB and 500 GB (RRP: € 299.-, € 349.-, € 399.- respectively). The package includes an infrared remote control unit, USB cable, AV cable (composite / component), power supply unit, stand, manual on CD and Quick Install Guide. The device runs under Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS X. Freecom provides its usual two-year manufacturer’s guarantee and unlimited helpdesk support.
