 Berlin, May 2007 – The fact that outstanding design also plays an increasingly important role in the IT storage sector and is attracting corresponding recognition, has been proven once again by Freecom. Following the award in January of the iF Product Design Award 2007 to the minimalistic new hard disk range, two further Freecom innovations have now received the coveted “red dot award: product design”:
· The USBCard in credit card format, a mere 2 mm “thick” USB storage card with integral USB cable, which can be folded out of the card and back in again after use by the “click mechanism”. The world’s flattest USB storage card fits inconspicuously into any wallet along with credit and cheque cards and is a perfect alternative to usual USB sticks.
· The ToughDrive Pro, a particularly well-protected and impact-resistant mobile 2.5” hard disk with integral, fold-out USB cable. The extra-robust storage unit even took the “red dot: best of the best” award as an outstanding product. Amongst the 50 award-winners in the product group of computers and accessories, this special honour was only given to two other products in addition to the Freecom ToughDrive Pro.
Freecom is therefore increasingly establishing itself as a designer and supplier of quality digital storage and communication solutions guaranteed to catch the eye. The products of the storage specialist Freecom stand out significantly from the mass of stereotype IT peripherals in a plastic housing. The ToughDrive Pro is a perfect example of how an original look can be combined with innovative functionality and special equipment. The super-flat USBCard provides a practical solution to a contemporary issue, enabling storage, protection and transport of data in the most indispensable accessory - the wallet.
